How to Make Money Online With SEO

June 16th, 2009 Vaidas No comments

Let me explain how to make money online using a method I started in September of last year: building a blog, putting an advertisement on it (I get paid a dollar or so every time the ad is clicked), and then getting traffic from a search engine.

searchenginesThis is also known as “SEO” – ranking your website on the search engines.

Does it Work? I know it works because I’ve been doing it less than a year, and I’ve already got my college paid for, and the income keeps increasing – meaning I’ll be graduating college with a fantastic income already. That’s more than most college graduates can say.

But don’t think I’m trying to build up a bunch of hype: this method of making money online will take a lot of hard work, planning and determination. If you’re willing to work hard to make money then this is for you – otherwise, you’ll have to find another way to make money on the Internet.

An SEO Income is a Passive Income
Ranking high on the search engines provides a steady source of traffic. For example, one of the keywords I’m result #2 for brings in about 800 visitors per day. These visitors consistently click on my advertisements, in the end making $40-50 per day. It’s not much, but it’s nothing to cough at.

The cool thing about this is that it’s a passive income – once you rank for a keyword, you don’t have to work every day to get paid. As long as your page is ranking for that search keyword, you’ll make the money. That’s why I’m a fan of SEOing for money. Read more…

Google Adwords Arrow Trick To Increase Click Through Rates

June 10th, 2009 Vaidas 2 comments

So lets cover the first question – How is this done?

In my example I use Google Adwords. Google has a function {keyword:sub} that will automatically substitute the keyword where the {keyword:sub} goes and if it is to many chars then the “sub” is used.

For instance lets say you bid on keywords “Michael Jackson” and “Jay-Z” to send to ringtone offers. Then in Adwords you write your ad like this:

Title: {keyword:New} Ringtones
Headline1: Get The Latest Ringtones By {keyword:Artists}
Headline2: {keyword:New} Ringtones Instantly Sent To Your Phone!

In the case of the keyword Jay-z that would make

Jay-Z Ringtones
Get The Latest Ringtones By Jay-Z
Jay-Z Ringtones Instantly Sent To Your Phone! Read more…

Some Google SEO Myths

June 5th, 2009 Admin No comments

There are many myths floating around Google in particular and SEO in general. Given here are the Google related myths as per the John Mueller’s “Frightening Webmastering Myths” presentation at “Tricks and Treats” webmaster event.

  • Duplicate content will penalize your site. [Don’t worry too much about duplicates on/from your own site. But be reasonable while using content from other sites]
  • Mixing HTML/XHTML will break verification
  • Getting listed in 1000s of search engines and directories is important. [search engines can find you, no need for submitting to directories]
  • Participating in AdWords, AdSense or Analytics will help or harm your site. [They won’t]
  • If a keyword is important, it’s important to repeat it in important locations on important pages so that the page looks more important to important search engines. [Write only with your readers in mind]
  • Using XML Sitemaps will make your site drop. [It doesn’t]
  • PageRank is dead / PageRank is everything! [Its not dead, but is also not everything, there are 200 more factors]
  • Resubmitting your site regularly is vital. [Not required]
  • Once your site ranks high, don’t touch it. [People need fresh content also]
  • Valid (X)HTML will make your site rank higher. [No]
  • # Using “disallow” in your robots.txt will remove your site/page from the index.
  • The more links the better.
  • The only important goal when making a website is getting it listed first in search results.
  • It’s best to let old URLs return 404 so that the new structure is naturally discovered.
  • Using “Index, Follow” in robots meta tags is important.
  • Hosting your site on a shared IP address will cause your rankings to drop.

May 27th, 2009 Admin No comments

Here are some of the best Google Adsense Tips and Tricks

a. Strictly follow the rules mentioned in Adsense policies. You will always earn more revenue from Adsense by playing it clean.

b. Never modify the Google Adsense HTML code. If have trouble embedding AdSense code in your WordPress or Blogger template, take help of the AdSense support forums or send an email to your AdSense account manager.

c. Never ask your friends or visitors to click on your Google ads. Google takes click fraud very seriously. Do not include incentives of any kind on your site for users to click on your ads. Don’t label Google ads with text other than “sponsored links” or “advertisements.”.

d. Don’t click on your own ads – Google is much smarter than you think and can discover invalid clicks through IP addresses, site navigation patterns, etc. If you working on a new design for your site, avoid reloading your pages (with AdSense) excessively. You can turn off AdSense temporarily and avoid invalid CPM impressions. Or you can use the unofficial Google Adsense Sandbox Tool that is accessible from Firefox, IE and other browsers to see what kind of Google ads will be served based on content (website address URL) or keywords.
