Rock-Solid Ways to Make Money With Blogs

June 9th, 2009 Vaidas No comments

1. Standard Banner Ads

Banner ads are my favorite way to make money via blogs and can provide a large steady stream of income for you. Once you start getting 1-2k + visitors a day you find it easier to attract sponsors. As your blog grows in traffic you can start increasing your advertising rates. I recommend not locking up sponsors for more then 3 months when you start, because of you grow fast you won’t be able to raise prices on sponsors who are already locked in.

It is important to use standard size banners on your site or you will make advertising on your site a hassle for sponsors, which can be enough to see sponsors pass by. You also need to make it clear you are accepting sponsors, what your traffic is and what your rates are per month.

When it comes to actually getting sponsors, many blog owners just sit around for months hoping sponsors find their site to advertise on. Many will, but you can make a lot more money if you are aggressive about filling your banner spots and contacting potential sponsors directly!

2. Text Links

Selling text links that are “follow links”, meaning they help sites rank better in the search engines is against Google terms of service, but many blog owners still resort to this as a way to make money online. I personally do not like to sell text links, but many blog owners do so quietly. You could add “nofollow” tags to the links, which tells search engines not to count the link, but you need to make this clear to sponsors, because many are seeking the potential ranking benefit and do not just want traffic. If you are going to make your links “nofollow” you should place the links in a high visibility zone so that sponsors actually get a decent amount of traffic.

3. Product Reviews

Product reviews have been gaining in popularity, due to the fact that its an easy way to tap into a large reader base of a blog. Not only can sponsors get “follow” links to their site which relates to #2 in our list, but the post will be seen by a majority of the active blog readers, which makes it superb for brand awareness. 12 Ways to Make Money From Twitter

June 9th, 2009 Vaidas No comments

Twitter is one of the most popular new sites for internet entrepreneurs and like most sites, people have found ways to make money from Twitter. The methods below vary greatly, but hopefully you will find at least a few of the ways to make money from Twitter below very useful.

Best Ways to Make Money on Twitter

1. Making Tweets for Money

Sponsors are always looking for maximum exposure so if they approach you to advertise on your site and you have substantial Twitter following you should see if they would like a Tweet made for “X” amount of money extra. You could even charge them for multiple tweets over an extended period of time, which would be better for both parties.

2. Custom Twitter Backgrounds

Since custom Twitter backgrounds have become so popular do to their usefulness, many designers are now offering custom Twitter designs. Some designers are specializing in this service and some are pitching it to clients when they order a website. This is still very new and I’ve only seen one good site so far offering custom designed Twitter backgrounds.

3. Twitter Account Building

Many online businesses do not have the time or knowledge to build up a large following on Twitter. This type of social media promotion is very in demand and I am sure people are already making a pretty penny building up the amount of followers on Twitter accounts for clients. Read more…

How To Outsource Your Traffic Generation

June 8th, 2009 Vaidas No comments

I think you’ll agree that there is always more work, but not always more time. I mean you can always think of another task to do but you can’t always just get another hour.

That’s why it’s so important to systematize your work, outsource it, and repeat with as many of your tasks as you can. When you do this you get more time out of your days and your business starts to scale.

For example, let’s say you have 12 traffic generation methods that you have to manage. If those traffic tactics take you 2-3 hours each day to update, manage, or tweak then that’s 2-3 hours everyday that you’ll never get back.

However, if you can record a video of yourself doing these tasks you can almost always teach someone else to do them. If you have someone else doing these tasks for you, now you’ve just gained 2-3 hours per day that you can dedicate to more traffic methods or other income producing tasks.

Repeat that process just 3-4 times and you could be getting whole days worth of more time to add new growth strategies to your business. What could you do with an extra day worth of time per week?

This is how I’ve grown my business past the point of my competitors being able to keep up. I’m just simply able to out work them because I have more man hours to play with.

Here’s my process, so you can duplicate it…

1.) Go to http://manila.craigslist.com.ph, that’s the Craigslist section for the largest city in the Philippines. You’re going to post an add for a virtual assistant or technical assistant or whatever title you want to call it.

2.) Tell them you are looking for someone with strong Internet skills, able to use excel spreadsheets, and read/write in good English. Tell them you will provide training and give them a description of the tasks they will be performing. Then offer them 20,000php ($400 USD) per month. Read more…

Why Don’t Bloggers Understand Email Marketing?

June 6th, 2009 Admin No comments

wow-email-marketingOver the weekend I worked hard on video presentations for the release of Blog Mastermind. Obviously the core topic of the videos is how to make money via blogging, however I’m introducing a new form of blogging for profit, something that can lead to income quicker, it’s more stable and in the long haul is a much better model for bloggers to follow.

I’ve got a name for this type of blogging that I will reveal when the video comes out but what I can tell you now, it is based on email marketing. I’m not the only person doing this form of blogging of course, but I’m one of very few compared to the total number of professional bloggers out there.

How The Humble Email List Changed My Business

Back in 2005 I started blogging. A few months later I began studying the work of some prominent Internet marketers and a trend arose – everyone talked about how you had to have an email list.

Strangely enough, I didn’t listen. Well, at least I didn’t take action, which is just as bad. I could see how having an email list was valuable, but my focus at the time was my editing business and I just didn’t see how email marketing was going to help it. My blog at the time was still more hobby site than a money maker.

Fast forward to the end of 2006 and I decided to finally launch an email list. However I still didn’t get it completely right because instead of leveraging my blog for continuous email opt-ins, I created an off-site landing page and wrote a few blog articles pointing towards it. At least it was a start.

When it came time to do a blog redesign I was well and truly convinced that I had to include an opt-in for my list on my blog. I asked my designer to put the opt-in in the right column at the top in the above the fold area. You can see it in action in most of the 2006 archives of my blog at the Way Back Machine.

Instantly my opt-ins grew and I quickly found myself generating an extra 20-50 new leads per day, which continued to increase as my blog traffic increased.

Since then, nearly every success I have enjoyed online has come thanks to making these decisions. I finally understood what Internet marketers were talking about when they said you have to have a list – and yes, that applies in EVERY niche online, not just the make money topics (email marketing is so good in non-business markets because not so many people use it well there). There are many myths floating around Google in particular and SEO in general. Given here are the Google related myths as per the John Mueller’s “Frightening Webmastering Myths” presentation at “Tricks and Treats” webmaster event.

  • Mixing HTML/XHTML will break verification
  • Getting listed in 1000s of search engines and directories is important. [search engines can find you, no need for submitting to directories]
